Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might already have a few celebrities on the guest list for the royal wedding – but even those not invited have nothing but praise for the royal couple.
Unlikely fans of the royal couple include Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie and Benedict Cumberbatch.
But while Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is on standby with the bunting others have admitted they have no interest in the May 19 nuptials.
“I just think she’s so eloquent and she’s so intelligent and she’s passionate about making a difference in the world and I think she’s the perfect match for Harry,” actress Naomie Harris said.
Dwayne Johnson added: “Well I think exactly what Naomie thinks. I’m excited because that’s always the fun thing about the royal weddings taking place over the years.
“I remember being a kid when Diana and Charles got married. It was this big, extravagant, moving thing. I had no… I thought it’s on every news channel. Where are my cartoons? But now obviously years later and older I can certainly enjoy it and I’m excited.”
Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson has revealed he knows Harry and wishes them all the best.
“I know Harry. I’ve met him a few times,” he said.
“I’ve interacted with him and his brother a lot even when they were in college. I used to play golf at St. Andrews when they were in college and I would see them hanging around.
“I wish them the best. Everyone deserves happiness and if Meghan can make him happy, he’ll be satisfied not being king and just being happy with her.”
When asked about the royal wedding, Benedict Cumberbatch said: “I think it’s great.”
He added: “I’ve met him [Prince Harry] once but I’ve not met her. He’s great and she seems amazing. I really respect what she stands for and how she holds herself in public.”
Meanwhile Margot Robbie is gutted she’s not in London ready for Saturday.
“It’s exciting. Oh my god, I wish I was in London right now,” she said.
“People would be losing it. They love a royal wedding, yeah.”
But not all celebrities are so enthusiastic about the royals.
Chris Rock admitted: “I don’t really care. I wish them well, they seem like nice people.”
But others are clamouring for an invite including actor Woody Harrelson.
“Well we are going to be in England next Saturday. We might as well crash it,” he suggested to Thandie Newton.
She said: “Oh my gosh. No we didn’t get invited. I didn’t get invited. My mom is like, all she cares about, all she cares about right now is whether I got invited to the wedding and I haven’t got the heart to tell her I didn’t.”
And English star Simon Pegg is excited for the “fairytale”.
“I’m very happy for Harry and Meghan. I think it’s lovely and it’s a fairytale and it’s hands across the ocean which is sweet,” he said.
“I know the Americans are very pleased that they finally got one in but I wish them all the happiness, you know.”
And actress Emilia Clarke admitted: “Well my village has already got the bunting up, so they’re very excited. Very excited. I expect there’s some china with some couple’s faces on it, I think. They’re not seeing my movie because they’re watching the wedding.”
