Emmerdale favourite Paddy Kirk had a complete breakdown on Wednesday night’s emotional episode – speaking fears he may leave the village.
Paddy and Chas Dingle have endured any parent’s worse nightmare as they were forced to lay their baby daughter to rest.
Chas has been very open with her feelings, but Paddy has bottled up his emotions in a bid to stay strong for his partner.
Paddy has secretly struggled after the death of Grace and not revealed how much strain he has been under.
The pressure became too much last night when Paddy felt responsible for the death of a cat.
The pet tragically died after a bad reaction during a routine procedure, leading Paddy to blame himself.
Rhona Goskirk found him in a heap on the floor and was worried when he suddenly ran off after a confrontation with the cat’s owner.
He eventually returned home to worried Chas and apologised for rushing off.
Paddy wanted to talk about his problems at work, but his mood suddenly changed after he spotted Grace’s baby box.
Chas said: “I thought you could go through it today or we could go through it together.”
Paddy remained silent as he stared at the box containing his dead daughter’s belongings.
The flustered vet claimed he had a migraine coming on so did a 360 and went to lie down for a bit.
Once the door was shut he looked extremely panicked as he dropped the facade.
This has prompted speculation that Paddy may do something extreme, like leaving the village, as his grief spirals out of control.
Shocked Emmerdale viewers took to Twitter after the heartbreaking scenes.
One viewer said: “Could #emmerdale be lining up a dark mental health breakdown for Paddy? Is this going to be like Aidan in #corrie ?”
“How sad that Paddy can talk to Robert like that but is too cut up to take his own advice,” added another.
A third said: “Aww Paddy, don’t bottle it all up talk to Chas”
*Emmerdale airs tonight on ITV at 7pm and 8pm
